Iain Low

Everyone at Broughty United would like to say a huge thank you to Iain Low as he steps away from coaching following our 2008 Panthers final season together.

Iain first started coaching with the boys back in 2019 when the 2008s moved to 9-a-side — mainly because his son Robbie was involved — and what followed was seven years of commitment, hard work, and memories.

After becoming Team Manager in 2023, Iain admits he thought it was going to be easy after winning 7 of his first 11 games but, like all grassroots football, there were plenty highs and lows along the way with players coming and going over the years. Despite that, he saw it through right to the very end.

There were some brilliant moments during that time, including reaching a cup final, cup semi-final and an excellent 2024 season where the 2008s finished 5th out of 11 — only 3 points off second place.

Away from matchdays and training, Iain also achieved his UEFA C Licence in 2021, showing his dedication to developing both himself and the boys he coached.

Most importantly though, thank you for the time, energy, patience and encouragement you gave to the players over the years. Grassroots football depends on people willing to give up evenings, weekends and family time — and the club is extremely grateful for everything you’ve done.

We know you’ll miss it (even if Susan won’t miss washing the bibs) and while a well-earned break is definitely deserved, we all hope to see you continue in some football-related role again in the future.

Thanks again Iain — you’ll always be part of the Broughty United family.
